Front loading washing machines, by their very design, use less water and energy to wash. The secret is the drum design. A front loading washer's drum rotates, plunging the clothes into and carrying them out of the water over and over again, providing a cleaning action that mimics washboard cleaning. Conventional top loaders merely fill up with water and agitate to clean your clothes. Because the entire machine doesn't fill up with water and because the drum spins at much higher rpm's than a top loading washer, your clothes get cleaner while you save on your energy and water bills. Because there is no agitator, front loading washing is much gentler on your clothes.
